I teach very special people!
Each of them is unique with distinct personalities and abilities. (That's for sure!) Some are with me for many years and others only a year or two. But no matter, I want to influence their life!

When students study dance with me, the lessons are not only about how to do something, but how to be SOMEBODY. Attitude is all! Talent is great, but motivation determines what you do with it.

I tell my "little ones" what good learners they are. They develop a willingness to try. My students learn that good posture is a way of showing that you feel good about yourself. ("Important people stand up straight. Look like you are going somewhere in your life. People should be able to tell a mile away that you're a dancer".) My students learn to value and help each other. They know that they won't be good at everything right away but that's OK! Inch by inch it's a cinch!

Gradually, these lessons spill over into other areas. Children are impressionable and I impress upon them the importance of setting goals and working toward them. Everyone wants a quick fix and instant results. There aren't any. We build our children's values and character day by day. If we preach the same positive message over and over they WILL believe it.

I tell my students that they make their own choices; how they spend their time, the friends and activities they choose, and whether or not to nurture their body with healthy food or junk. I SEE the discipline that so many of them are developing and their insight into the value of hard work and self respect. Children ask of their parents and teachers, "Can I trust you? Are you committed? Do you care about me?" We must be able to emphatically answer YES! There are too many people who never do anything with their lives. That is a fate we cannot allow for any of these young dancers. They can ALL be achievers and people who will make a difference!

Yes! I teach very special people!

To My Dancers!
We may not all get to Broadway or dance in a ballet company, but we have felt that drive, determination, and the exhilaration of achieving something we once thought was too difficult.

We have all ached over a grueling class, nursed sore muscled, laughed together, cried together, been tired together, gotten excited together...just being together. It's all worth it!

The love I have for each of you is what keeps me going and wanting to give you everything I have to give. Half of 'making it' is the struggle and the friends that you make along the way. Work hard, do your best, and believe in yourself.  I believe in you!
